If Barrel of Stout (6-1) is not the key to Tampa Bay’s Late Pick 4, who have no clue as to who else might be, although there could be trouble lurking on the Also-Eligibles should mega-dropper Dollar Blue (2-1) draws in.
But even if that one does, ‘Stout’ would have the better post–not that it matters as he twice has come from last in both recent wins. Antonio Gallardo rode him last time and takes the re-ride here.
Coming off two big effort, trainer Anthony Granitz, who is 32% profitable with winners seeking repeat victories, wisely gave him time. Meanwhile, this guy is a Silky Sullivan type, coming from way back. Gallardo rode with complete confidence but would like readers to watch the prior maiden win.
‘Stout’ had to be 15 lengths out into the lower first turn, rallied wide–the kind that discourages lower-class runners–and it wasn’t until midstretch did he settle and kick home. He’s improving, typical of young gelding. Check out the Tampa Bay Today Video, RACE 6 on JAN 11.
Taking Barrel of Stout to win, no price restrictions, and will make an exacta box with Dollar Blue should he draw in off the Also’s.
