DAVE BROWER PASSES AT 53

PLANTATION, FL, October 7, 2022 — Harness Racing, The Meadowlands, and HorseRaceInsider all lost a great friend Friday as Dave Brower, author, Meadowlands handicapper, linemaker, and television analyst passed away suddenly Thursday in Lexington as he prepared for a broadcast from the Red Mile.

The news came via FanDuel TV as we watched racing from Keeneland, opening day of their Fall meet which will conclude with its hosting the Breeders’ Cup World Championships for the third time, November 4th and 5th.

As HRI regulars are aware, Brower analyzed the early double on weekends for this website when there was racing at the East Rutherford, NJ track. Brower was a graduate of St. John’s University.

HRI was preparing a column for this weekend featuring comparisons between two of the fastest horses in the world, Thoroughbred Flightline, odds-on early favorite to win the Breeders’ Cup Classic, and Bulldog Hanover, the fastest horse in harness history scheduled to race at the Red Mile Sunday night.

Our prayers and heartfelt condolences are with Brower’s family and his many friends in harness racing.

this is a developing story

  1. The racetrack still exists! what doesnt exist is the former announcer Dave Brower ,who recently died this year .A great loss to the industry in general . But its still agreat harness track .

    1. Yes, Caroline, and while Dave cannot be replaced and a great personal loss, HRI will effort to get more harness racing handicapping information. Just wait a respectful period of time before beginning out search. Will start efforting this week. Thanks for your input…
